Ground Report | New Delhi: Feeling helpless’, says Chidambaram; Discord within the country's oldest party Congress keeps coming to the surface every day, but no concrete solution seems to be found. Senior party leaders are speaking publicly but the top leadership does not seem to be taking any steps.

Some leaders are accusing them of neglect and some are feeling helpless. Their own people are asking how and who is running the party without a permanent president.

Feeling helpless’, says Chidambaram

The status of P Chidambaram is not hidden from anyone during the ten years of Manmohan Singh. But on Thursday they also got upset. Chidambaram has told the condition of himself and the party in a tweet at around eight o'clock on Thursday night.

He wrote in his tweet, "I feel very helpless when we are not able to have any meaningful dialogue within the party. I still feel hurt and helpless when I see pictures of Congress workers shouting slogans outside the residence of a colleague and MP.

Congress- G-23

There is a group of dissenting senior leaders within the Congress- G-23. It has from Kapil Sibal, Ghulam Nabi Azad to Shashi Tharoor. The group had demanded that a meeting of the Congress Working Committee be called on Wednesday itself. Now Congress has talked about calling a meeting of CWC.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has told The Hindu, "Before leaving Shimla, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi had already indicated that a meeting of the Congress Working Committee would be convened soon. This meeting will be held in the coming days.” However, Surajewala did not give any date.

crisis in Punjab

On the one hand, the Congress is facing a crisis in Punjab, on the other hand, on Wednesday, Kapil Sibal held an explosive press conference and asked that if there is no president of the Congress yet, then who is taking the decision of the party.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, who was the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, has also written a letter to Sonia Gandhi and demanded to convene a meeting of CW.

On Thursday, there was a dispute within the party regarding Kapil Sibal's press conference. The leaders of the G-23 were seen on one side and the loyal leaders of the rest of the Gandhi-Nehru family on the other. Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Manish Tewari has also strongly opposed the protest outside Kapil Sibal's house.

Manish Tewari tweeted and said, "I strongly condemn the pre-planned hooliganism that took place outside Kapil Sibal's house last night. Kapil Sibal is fighting for Congress, you may be uncomfortable with his words, but you cannot indulge in violence.
