A large number of security forces have been deployed along the Singhu border. The farmers were to take out the march earlier on Wednesday, but it was postponed for a day due to the weather. Farmers have said that this is a rehearsal of the tractor march to be held on Republic Day on 26 January.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said on Thursday that farmers should have waited until the next round of talks scheduled for January 8 before invoking the tractor march.
