Ground Report | New Delhi: Farmers call off 15-Month-long protest; The United Kisan Morcha has announced the suspension of the farmers' agitation that has been going on since November 26 last year. From December 11, the farmers will start withdrawing from the protest site.

Yogendra Yadav and Rakesh Tikait, along with all the members of the five-member committee formed to negotiate with the government, gave this information in a press conference.

Farmer leaders have said that they will start returning to their homes from December 11. The leaders say that on January 15, they will once again review the situation and if the central government does not fulfill the promises, then they will agitate again.

Farmer leaders said that "United Kisan Morcha will hold a review meeting on January 15, if the central government does not agree with the things, then the movement will start again."

Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to withdraw three controversial agriculture laws, giving hope to end the agitation.

During this, Yogendra Yadav said, "From December 11, wherever farmers are sitting on dharna in the whole country, they will be raised." "Farmers have regained their lost self-respect, farmers have created unity, farmers have realized political power," he said.

On this occasion, farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni said, "There will be a review every month. If the government denies its promise, we will launch an agitation. Farmer leader Darshan Pal Singh said that "From December 11, farmers will start returning to their homes."

At the same time, farmer leader Balbir Rajewal said that "arrogance is going to bow before the government. But it is not the end of the front. We have postponed it. On January 15, there will be another meeting of United. Kisan Morcha in which we will review the agitation."

Farmer leader Shiv Kumar Sharma said, "There are many questions like crop insurance right now. United Kisan Morcha will continue, together we will make it more powerful. Its meeting will be held in Delhi on January 15."

Here are the five demands-

• MSP- Central Government will form a Kisan Samiti in which representatives of United Kisan Morcha will be taken. The fruits on which MSP is being received now will continue.

• Case return from farmers- Haryana, UP, Uttarakhand government have agreed to return the case. Delhi, other states and railways will also return the case immediately.

• Compensation- Agreement has been reached in UP and Haryana. Compensation of Rs 5 lakh will be given here on the lines of Punjab.

• Electricity bill- The provisions affecting the farmers will be first discussed with all the parties. The bill will be introduced in Parliament only after discussion with the Kisan Morcha.

• Parali- Farmers have been freed from criminal liability under sections 14 and 15 of the laws passed by the Government of India.
