A day after LT Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Girish Chander Murmu hinted at early elections in Jammu and Kashmir, The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) said it was ready to contest assembly election in the Jammu and Kashmir.
BJP’s general secretary (Organisation) Ashkol Koul welcoming the statement of LG, said “the BJP is ready if the authorities decide to go for early elections in the Jammu and Kashmir”.
He added That BJP also demand early assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir so that people can choose their leaders.
The Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina said the situation in Jammu andf Kashmir was improving fast now. “We will stand by the election commission on the elections”, Raina said.
The BJP senior leader and former deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Kavinder Gupta said the democratic process has stopped in Jammu and Kashmir for some time now. He said the President’s rule or the governor’s rule cannot be a permanent solution in democracy.
Hence, we support elections in Jammu and Kashmir Gupta said.
The opposition political parties however demanded that the government should first release all the political leaders before taking any decision on the election in Jammu and Kashmir.
The national conference leader and former minister Ajay Sadhotra said the government should first release all the detained political leaders including, three former chief ministers Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti.
The National conference will take decision on election in the party’s working committee. But the government should first create a conductive atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir”, Said Ajay Sadhotra.
Senior Congress leader Ravinder Sharma said the government should meet demand to release all the political detainees,
Our party president is still not allowed to move out of Jammu district. In such a sitaituion, election will be joke”, he said.
Sharma said congress was not against elections, but the need of the hour is that the government should first create conductive atmosphere for holding elections.
When asked about restoring of Internet service in Kashmir valley BJP leader and Jammu and Kashmir president Ravinder Raina said internet service will be restored in Jammu and Kashmir only after getting clearance from the intelligence agencies.
“Everybody wants internet service should restore soon. The national security comes first”, he said. “Internet service have been suspended in Jammu and Kashmir so that Pakistan doesn’t create disturbance here. Hence, clearance from the intelligence agencies is a must to restore the service.
