Ground Report | New Delhi: ED Nawab Malik questioning; Nawab Malik, a minister in the Maharashtra government and senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has been taken to his office by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials for questioning. After this move of ED, the leaders of the ruling coalition in Maharashtra have targeted the BJP.
Nawab Malik has been taken from his house by ED officials on Wednesday morning. News agency PTI quoted ED officials as saying that Nawab Malik is being questioned in the money laundering case related to the Mumbai underworld.
NCP chief in Maharashtra and minister in the state government Jayant Patil says that Nawab Malik has exposed BJP leaders for some time, that is why he is being avenged. He alleged that Nawab Malik has been taken to the ED office for questioning without any prior information. Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has also objected to taking Nawab Malik from home.
Talking to reporters, he said – Nawab Malik is a senior leader and a cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government. The way the ED has taken him from home, it is a challenge for the Maharashtra government. Central agencies are taking a minister to our state. You will also be tested in 2024. Will keep this in mind.
“Nawab Malik was bringing out the truth. Whoever speaks against them (the BJP) has the CBI and ED unleashed after them. ED has taken him in the morning. Let them investigate, we hope he will be back home by evening,” he said.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar echoed the Sena MP’s charge that those who speak against the Centre and its probe agencies are targeted. “We knew Nawab Malik would be targeted in this manner when he had attacked the Centre. I don’t know about the case against him but Dawood’s name has always been invoked to try to defame rivals,” he said.
