Ground Report | New Delhi: The increasing use of plastic bags, bottles and face masks is causing great harm to the environment. According to the Plastic Waste Makers Index, a large proportion of single-use plastic waste comes from only a handful of large companies.

Dow is an American chemical and plastic manufacturer. It is responsible for 5.6 per cent of plastic waste. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, Dow Jones, or simply the Dow, is a stock market index that measures the stock performance of 30 large companies listed on stock exchanges in the United States

Sinopec

Sinopec is the Chinese oil and gas enterprise group. It is located in Beijing. 5.3 percent of plastic waste comes from this company. China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, or Sinopec, is a Chinese oil and gas enterprise based in Beijing. It is listed in Hong Kong and also trades in Shanghai and New York. 

Indorama Ventures

Indorama Ventures is a global manufacturer of chemical and woolen yarn. It is located in Bangkok. 4.6 percent plastic waste comes from this company. Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited, founded by Indian businessman Aloke Lohia, is one of the world's leading producers in the intermediate petrochemicals industry and a global manufacturer of wool yarns. 

Saudi aramco

Saudi Aramco is a Saudi Arabian oil company. It is the world's largest oil exporter. 4.3 percent plastic waste comes from this company. Saudi Aramco, officially the Saudi Arabian Oil Company, is a Saudi Arabian public petroleum and natural gas company based in Dhahran.

PetroChina is a Chinese oil and gas enterprise group. Located in Beijing, the company is responsible for 4 per cent of plastic waste on earth.

LyondellBasell Industries N.V. is a Dutch-domiciled multinational chemical company with American and British roots, incorporated in the Netherlands, with U.S. operations headquarters in Houston, Texas, and offices in London, UK.

Reliance Industries

Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries works in the fields of petrochemicals, oil and gas. 3.1 percent plastic waste comes from this company.

Braskem

Braskem is a Brazilian petrochemical company. It is the largest company in Latin America. 3 percent plastic waste on the earth comes from here.
