The police detained Wazid Hussain in the northeastern state of Assam and recovered the Swiss brand Hublot's watch after the man fled to India after the alleged robbery in the Emirati city. The 37-year-old detained man had worked as a security guard since 2016 at a Dubai firm that kept memories of the Argentine star, police said.

Disclosing the recovery of Maradona’s watch, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “In an act of international cooperation, Assam police has coordinated with Dubai Police HQs through Indian federal LEA to recover a heritage Hublot watch belonging to legendary footballer Late Diego Maradona and arrested one Wazid Hussein. Follow-up lawful action is being taken”.

Assam Police Director General Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta also posted a series of tweets in connection with the case. But today all these words came together very well, telling a story of successful international cooperation between #DubaiPolice and @assampolice" said the DGP.

“As reported through the Central Agency by the Dubai Police, a Wazid Hussain had stolen a limited edition Maradona signed Hublot watch and fled to Assam. This morning at 4:00 am we arrested Wazid at his residence in Sibsagar. The limited-edition olive watch has been recovered from him ”, added the DGP.

Following information received from Dubai police, a raid was carried out and the limited edition watch was recovered from the suspect's residence, Assam Police Director General Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said in a tweet. Saturday. Mahanta tweeted a photo with more details about the suspect.

The suspect worked as a security guard for a company that stored the late soccer player's belongings, Mahanta said. Within days of starting work, the suspect allegedly asked his employer for permission to return to India to treat his father's illness.

Wazid Hussein worked as a security guard in a private company in Dubai. The private company stored the memories of the legendary footballer.

It is said that he stole the merchandise while he was at work from him. Later, he requested to return home to see his father ill with him, just a few weeks at his work. Hussein is said to have returned to India in August this year.

Maradona, one of the best footballers in history, died in November 2020 at the age of 60 in a house in the north of Greater Buenos Aires, and the reasons are still being investigated by the Attorney General of the San Isidro Judicial Department.
