Ground Report | New Delhi: The Covid curfew has been extended till five in the morning of June 7 in the country's capital, Delhi. Restrictions will remain in force as before. However the construction and construction industry is allowed to operate.  The Delhi government said that it has been decided to increase the restrictions to reduce the positivity rate and break the Covid infection chain. 

This time the Delhi government has given exemption to two industries - manufacturing (construction) and construction (construction work). The government said in its order that the employees of both these industries have been allowed to work strictly following the measures of covid-19.

The unlocking process will start in Delhi from May 31.

  • Operations of manufacturing/production units within closed premises in approved industrial areas
  • Construction activities within work sites.
  • Only asymptomatic workers and employees to be allowed at the workplace.
  • Staggering of work/business hours to be followed at the workplace in order to ensure proper social distancing.
  • Covid-appropriate behaviour to be strictly followed by all workers at workplace.
  • Provision of thermal screening, hand wash and sanitizer preferably with touch-free mechanism to be made at all entry and exit points.
  • Frequent sanitization of entire work place and common facilities to be ensured.
  • Provision of thermal screening, hand wash and sanitizer preferably with touch free mechanism will be made at all entry and exist points and common areas.
  • Frequent sanitization of entire work place, common facilities and all points which come into human contact e.g. door handles etc. shall be ensured, including between shifts.
  • Workers and employees will be allowed to move only if they possess an e-pass (soft or hard copy) which can be obtained by the employers by submitting online applications with details of the workers on the website www.delhi.gov.in.

The Chief Minister had said that Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) met with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal today to discuss the process of unlocking (relaxation of restrictions) in the capital Delhi in view of decreasing cases of covid-19 in Delhi. It has been agreed during the discussion. It has been decided in the meeting that the lockdown will be removed gradually.
