Delhi budget 2021-22: Manish Sisodia presents Rs 69,000 crore budget

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Delhi on Tuesday presented a proposed budget of Rs 69,000 crore based on 'patriotism' for the financial year 2021-22 . 

Presenting the budget, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the AAP government has decided to celebrate the 75th Independence Day of the country and for this, the government will organize a program for 75 weeks from March 12.

Sisodia said that under the "Patriotic Budget", the Delhi government has proposed to allocate Rs 45 crore to establish high flag pillar for hoisting the national flag at 500 places in the national capital. 

Sisodia also said that there will also be a "period of patriotism" in the capital's schools to make the children of Delhi a staunch patriot. In the budget, Rs 16,377 crore has been allocated for education.

He said that the AAP government wants to increase the per capita income of Delhi to the level of Singapore by 2047. During this time, Sisodia said that the dream of the Delhi government is to host the Olympics in Delhi. 

The Deputy Chief Minister said that an amount of Rs 10 crore would be allocated for programs based on Bhagat Singh's life during the 75-week "patriotic" celebrations. 

He informed that the total outlay of the budget is 6.1 percent more than the budget presented for the financial year 2020-21.

Sisodia said that the Delhi government's dream is to host the Olympic Games in Delhi. We have started preparations for this from now on so that in future Delhi can get the opportunity to host the Olympic Games.

With this, Delhi Finance Minister Manish Sisodia announced that I make a budget provision of Rs 9,934 crore for Delhi's health sector for 2021-22 which is 14% of the total budget.
