A 24-year-old woman who worked as a cleaner at a five-star hotel in Dehradun was allegedly raped by a 15-year-old boy at a hotel on Friday, police said.

The woman is from West Bengal. Married, and has a daughter. The accused, a native of Chhattisgarh, was detained by police after a woman’s complaint at the Rajpur police station, according to the Hindustan Times.

When the woman had just connected her mobile phone to the charging station in the women’s restroom, the accused burst into the women’s restroom, saying “hello” to her. Then he started talking to her, despite the woman’s disinterest.

According to her complaint, the victim interrogated him for going to the women’s restroom. She then told the accused that they were not talking to visitors or guests and that he should leave the women’s restroom immediately.

“Despite my resistance, the accused first locked the door from the inside and then raped me. Although I shouted for help, no one heard me because the door was closed, “she told the police.

The minor lived with his family in the hotel for the last two days and was going to leave around noon, police said. On Saturday, the juvenile was taken to a juvenile court and sent to a juvenile home in Haridwar.

Mohan Singh, an officer of the Rajpur Police Station (SHO), said they had registered a case under Article 376 (Penalty for Rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and an investigation was underway.

Police are awaiting the woman’s medical opinion to confirm the rape, Singh added.

However, a spokesman for the five-star hotel said that the hotel authorities are working closely with local police on the incident and assured that the safety of guests and colleagues is extremely important to them.
