In Jammu and Kashmir, in the first election of the District Development Council, the Gupkar alliance has gone ahead, but the Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged as the largest party. In the District Development Council elections in Jammu and Kashmir, a secret alliance of seven parties led by Farooq Abdullah has either won or are leading in 112 seats out of a total of 280 seats till late Tuesday night. At the same time, BJP has emerged as the largest party with victory in 73 seats.

So far, 47 independents have won, while independents are leading in 6 seats. The Congress has won 22 seats and was leading in five seats. Apart from this, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) has won 11 seats and is leading in one. 

So let's know ten big things about the results so far.

1 The election of DDC in the Union Territory commenced from November 28 and was completed in eight phases. This is the first election in the state after the abolition of Article 370 of the Constitution in August, 2019 and the special status of Jammu and Kashmir was abolished. A total of 280 seats (140 in Jammu and 140 in Kashmir) have been voted.

2. The results of the DDC elections are visible as per the estimate. The BJP remains strong in the Jammu region, while the alliance of regional parties such as the National Conference, PDP, the performance of the alliance is better in the Kashmir Valley and Pir Panjal and Chenab Valley regions of Jammu.

3. Just a day before the counting of votes, the administration detained several leaders of PDP and NC including Naeem Akhtar, Sartaj Madni, Neer Mansoor and Hilal Ahmed Lone. No reason has been given for taking them into custody.

4. This is the first time BJP has won against PDP and NC in Kashmir Valley. BJP has got three seats in the valley.

5. Encouraged by the victory in the Valley, BJP General Secretary Vibodh Gupta congratulated the party's winning candidates, especially the candidates of the Valley. He said that the people of the Valley have expressed their faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

6. Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Jitendra Singh said, 'Three BJP candidates have won from Srinagar. This verifies that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of the development of the Union Territory. '

7. 2178 candidates are in the fray for DDC election. Eight phase elections were held for 280 seats of DDC. The 20 districts of the union territory each have 14 seats.
