On Monday, a 25-year-old Dalit youth was beaten to death by 2 upper caste youths as he touched food in a party in Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh.

The deceased Devraj Anuragi was called by the accused Bhura Soni and Santosh Pal. After the party, both of them called Devraj in Kishanpur village of Chhatarpur district for cleanliness. The village is 450 km from the capital Bhopal. The two got angry when they noticed Anuragi serving food to himself and started beating him up with sticks due to which Anuragi died.

Gaurihar station in-charge Jaswant Singh Rajput said that when Anuragi started serve food for himself during the party, Soni and Pal beat him with sticks and killed him.

Police further said that Soni and Pal, were booked for murder and under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act. “They will be caught soon,” Chhatarpur SP Sachin Sharma said.

Last week the incident of rape of a minor Dalit girl has been reported in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar. It is being told that a young man named Bhushan Kumar took the minor girl to his house as an excuse to ride on the bike, where he raped her. The girl had left home for defecation.

Incidents of assault on people belonging to scheduled castes, tribes are increasing continuously. There has been a decline in the incidents of murder and rape, but the incidents of assault are not coming to an end. 

Dalits have now become aware. The upper castes, Muslims and backward classes are persecuting Dalits, but they are not allowing their rights to be violated due to awareness. They are also taking full advantage of government schemes. 

Statistics show that awareness is being created among Dalits year after year. Whose testimony is being given to the Scheduled Caste-Tribe Atrocities Prevention Scheme.
