Vidyasagar, who is also the head of the National Covid-19 Supermodel Committee, said that India will have Omicron's third wave but it will be milder than the second wave. "Third wave is likely to arrive early next year in India. It should be milder than the second wave due to a large-scale immunity present in the country now. There will definitely be a third wave. Right now, we are at around 7,500 cases per day which is sure to go up once Omicron starts displacing Delta as the dominant variant,"

Same situation like last year, what govt. will do?

A similar situation prevailed during the second wave when the Government of India, ignoring the warnings of experts, conducted the Kumbh in Uttarakhand and elections in Bengal. The result of which was that the havoc of Corona was seen. Dead bodies were found floating in the Ganga. This time too there is an election and the third wave is knocking. It remains to be seen what action the government takes.

Uttar Pradesh elections are in full swing. There are going to be big rallies in the coming few days. The entire BJP has made a program to campaign in UP. These rallies would gather huge crowds. In such a situation, the third wave of covid can be intensified.

The omicron variant of covid spreads very rapidly. It has the ability to double in 1.5 to 3 days. According to the WHO, to measure it lightly will prove to be disastrous. Its symptoms are mild but the vaccine is not effective against it.
