Covid-19: New cases rising at 7.6%, deaths at 10.2%

Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that the speed with which corona infection cases are increasing in the country is not healing fast due to which the number of active cases in the country has increased.

He said that the number of active cases in the country is 16,79,000, which is very worrying. Also, 10.2 percent increase has been registered in deaths from Corona.

In a review meeting on availability of oxygen, ventilators, health workers, medicines and hospital beds in the country, he said that the rate of corona infection in the country is being recorded at 7.6 percent. In June last year, this rate was 5.5 percent, which was much lower than the current rate.

He said that the central government is sending 6,303 ventilators in the six states in which the situation is serious. Of these, 1,121 ventilators will be sent to Maharashtra, 1,700 to Uttar Pradesh, 1,500 to Jharkhand, 1,600 to Gujarat, 152 to Madhya Pradesh and 230 to Chhattisgarh.

After this, a review meeting of preparations to deal with the Korana epidemic was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, in which officials said that one lakh oxygen cylinders are being produced which will be sent to the states as soon as possible.

India reported its highest-ever single-day spike of 261,500 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. As per data on Sunday morning, India registered 1,501 deaths in the past day. With this, India's overall tally has reached 14,788,109 cases and the death toll has jumped to 177,150, as per the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare. The country has 18,01,316 active cases as of 9am on Sunday.

So far, 12,809,643 people have recovered from COVID-19 in India, including 138,423 who recovered in the last 24 hours.

As for vaccination, India has administered 12,26,22,590 doses, including 26,84,956 in the past 24 hours.
