The novel coronavirus cases India has increased to 206, Indian Council of Medical Research confirmed on Friday. "A total of 14,376 samples have been tested from 13,486 individuals have been tested for SARS-CoV2 as on March 20, 2020. A total of 206 individuals have been confirmed positive among suspected cases and contacts of known positive cases, ICMR said in its report.

However, contrary to this, the Union Health Ministry today at 9 am confirmed 195 coronavirus cases. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the cases include 32 foreign nationals. Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 patients has touched 47 in Maharashtra - the highest in India. 

The state has also reported one death from the deadly contagious virus. Kerala is the second worst-hit state with 28 confirmed cases. Delhi has recorded 17 coronavirus cases and the bordering Uttar Pradesh has recorded 19 confirmed cases.

While 10 COVID-19 cases have appeared in the Union Territory of Ladakh, Union Territory Jammu and Kashmir has reported 13 cases coronavirus cases. Meanwhile, Karnataka and Telangana reported 15 and 16 cases respectively.India also reported its fifth coronavirus death on Friday after an Italian tourist died in a Jaipur hospital. 

In West Bengal, a man with recent travel history to the UK tested positive for novel coronavirus on Friday. This is the second confirmed case in Bengal.

 A Saudi-returned man tested positive in Andhra Pradesh on Friday. With a fresh case in the state, the Andhra tally now stands at three.

A 69-year-old woman, who recently returned from the United Kingdom, tested positive for coronavirus, taking the total number of cases in Punjab to three. "The woman, a resident of Phase 3 A in Mohali, has tested (positive) for coronavirus," Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan told PTI.

Four fresh cases were reported in Lucknow on Friday. Now, 23 positive cases of coronavirus have been reported in Uttar Pradesh.

In Delhi, four new cases were reported on Thursday, taking the total in the national capital to 14. The Delhi Health Department said new cases included two people from West Bengal, who had returned from Italy. They are now in quarantine at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Chhawala facility.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed the nation and called for resolve, restraint to fight coronavirus. He urged people to stay indoors and work from home. The Prime Minister appealed to people above 60 not to venture out of their residences. He urged people to avoid the mindset that the coronavirus pandemic will not affect India.

While asking the entire country to observe 'Janta curfew' on March 22, PM Modi said, "This Sunday, that is on 22 March, all citizens must follow this curfew from 7 am until 9 pm. During this curfew, we shall neither leave our homes nor get onto the streets and refrain from roaming about in our societies or areas. Only those associated with emergency and essential services may leave their homes."
