Number of coronavirus cases in India has reached 16,365, and the death toll jumped to 521, 2013 new cases and 35 new deaths reported in last 24 hours across the country according to worldmeters.
According to the Health Ministry, close to 2,000 people have recovered from the deadly disease.
At least 26 Indian Navy personnel in Mumbai have tested positive for the viral infection. The personnel are part of the INS Angre, a logistics and support facility of the Western Naval Command.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state in the country. The COVID-19 death toll in the state has reached 211 with 3,651 confirmed cases of the infection. Maharashtra is followed by Madhya Pradesh which has reported 70 deaths while Gujarat and Delhi have reported 53 and 42 COVID-19 fatalities respectively.
Telangana has reported 18 deaths while Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have reported 15 deaths each. Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka have reported 14 fatalities while Punjab, West Bengal and Rajasthan have reported 13, 12 and 11 deaths respectively.
Five deaths have been reported in Jammu and Kashmir while Haryana and Kerala have reported three fatalities each. Bihar and Jharkhand have reported two COVID-19 fatalities while Odisha, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh and Assam have reported one death each.
However government on Saturday clarified that it had not yet decided to allow flight operations to resume from May 4.
The statement came after Air India said it has reopened bookings for select domestic flights for travel from May 4, when the nationwide lockdown to combat coronavirus would be lifted, and for international flights for travel from June 1.
