'Conversion' Movie on love jihad

He said, The Conversion is not a simple love triangle between Bablu, Dev, and Sakshi, but a film that sensitively explores the dilemma of conversion during love marriages in India. The film stars Vindhya Tiwari, Prateek Shukla, and Ravi Bhatia in the lead roles. The Conversion will release in September 2021.

Talking about his character Sakshi Vindhya said, “I consider myself fortunate to be a part of a film that will bring social awareness, especially among today's youth, about conversions during love marriages in India.

He further said, it is everyone's right to choose a life partner, but in the same way, sticking to the religion to which you belong is also a right. As soon as the girl leaves her home after marriage, this conversion is imposed on her, we hear about them but it can be really understood from the story of Sakshi's life.

Actor Ravi Bhatia, who essays the character of Dev said, “This film is special to me in many ways and being a part of Vinod ji's journey with The Conversion was a dream come true moment for me. It is not just a film but a social message that needs to be seen by everyone in our country.

Netizens had wanted to boycott this

A section of netizens, who are aware or unaware of the real reason, started a trend last month - #BoycottTheConversionMovie. This was because of the poster of the film, which showed Tiwari wearing a half Hindu and the other half wearing a burqa.

This triggered some online users who claimed that the image "sends a false image about our community" and, therefore, should not be promoted.

Why it is sensitive?

Bollywood refrains from working on such sensitive issues, the film's attempt to bring to the fore a religious problem of modern India is also being appreciated. The trailer has garnered over 2 million views on YouTube in a single day. The trailer has also been liked by more than 26,000 people.

Director Vinod Tiwari says that he has been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, not because the film is very important for him, but because the story of the film will create awareness among today's youth. He also said that the film is not just a love triangle but is based on a sensitive issue like conversion after love marriage in India.

Couples in India are increasingly breaking out of the tradition of arranged marriages and choosing their own life partners, even sometimes on religious grounds. However, right-wing Hindu groups are harassing such couples.
