Ground Report | New Delhi: Congress will raise issue of Rafale; Congress has launched a 6-point plan to corner the BJP-led government on several issues including COVID management, farmers' agitation against three agricultural laws, and a hike in fuel prices during the monsoon session of Parliament starting July 19. The agenda has been set. News agency ANI has given information about this.

On Wednesday, a meeting of the party's parliamentary strategy group was held under the chairmanship of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi.

A Congress leader who was part of the meeting said, "The Congress has decided to raise the issue of Modi government's mismanagement in dealing with COVID-19. The second wave affected the country very badly, killing millions of people. The party will also raise the issue of lack of vaccination and target the central government for its preparedness. Another issue that the party will raise is the rising unemployment after COVID-19.

Apart from this, the Congress leader said, "The party will also raise questions on the issue of Rafale deal because investigation has been started by agencies in France." We have also decided to be aggressive on Chinese action on LAC, farmers' agitation against agricultural laws, hike in petrol and diesel prices.

A report by news agency PTI quoted sources as saying that there was no indication of any change in the party's parliamentary team from the Congress leadership and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury will continue as the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. In fact, for the last few days, there was a discussion that the leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, could be removed.

According to the report, besides Sonia, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Party in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Deputy Leader Anand, besides Sonia in the Parliamentary Strategy Group meeting. Sharma, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, senior leader AK Antony, Rajya Sabha member Jairam Ramesh, Lok Sabha members Manish Tewari, K Suresh, and Manickam Tagore attended.

After the meeting, a senior Congress leader told PTI, "It was a formal meeting which takes place before every session. In this it has been decided that since the investigation of Rafale (deal) has started in France, the issue will be taken up and there will be a demand to set up a JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) to probe it."
