Ground Report | New Delhi: CLAT Exam Date and Syllabus; The Consortium of National Law Universities has resolved to conduct two Common Law Admission Tests in the year 2022 and has announced the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) dates for the 2022 and 2023 exams. CLAT 2022 will be held on May 8 and CLAT 2023 on December 18. CLAT is held for both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes.

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam for admissions to UG and PG law programmes offered by 22 National Law Universities in the country. Most private and self-financed law schools in India also use these scores for law admissions. The test is taken after the Higher Secondary Examination or the 12th grade for admission to integrated Under-graduate degree in Law (BA LL.B) and after Graduation in Law for Master of Laws (LL.M) programs offered by these law schools. It is considered as one the toughest entrance examinations in India with the acceptance rate being as low as 1 percent.

Eligibilty

UG Law Programme:

Qualification of the candidates should be the 12th board examination from a recognized board or university. The percentage criteria for GEN/OBC category candidates is 45% and for SC/ST category is 40% marks to qualify for the exam.

UG Law Programme

Candidates must have a three-year LLB degree or a three-year integrated LLB degree or an equivalent LLB degree from a recognized University. Minimum Aggregate: 55% for General/ OBC/ SAP, and 50% for SC/ST. Age limit: There is no upper age limit to apply for the CLAT PG 2021 exam.

Important Dates

  • Aspirants can check the online application form of CLAT 2022 from the 1st week of January 2022 in online mode.
  • Application ends at the 2nd week of March 2022
  • Availability of admit card is on 3rd week of April 2022
  • Exam Date- May 8 2022

Application Fee

Candidates have to submit Rs 4000 for GEN/OBC/PWD category as the application fee for CLAT 2022. The fee for SC/ST category candidates is Rs. 3000 for CLAT 2022. You can pay the amount by using online mode only (Debit/credit card or Net Banking)

CLAT Exam Date and Syllabus

Marking scheme: Each question will carry 1 mark. An incorrect question will invite a penalty of 0.25 marks.

Syllabus:

The syllabus has been divided section-wise as it includes 6 sections:

  • Current affairs and general awareness: This topic include general awareness, current topics, events, national and international updates, and many more.
  • English comprehension: It has various topics like understanding of the passage, word meanings, and many more.
  • Mathematics includes elementary mathematics and its related knowledge with the candidates.
  • Legal aptitude includes problem-solving abilities, research aptitude, etc.
  • Logical Reasoning includes syllogism, logical sequences or analogies, etc.
