Chinese are using Indian roads says Ladakh villagers

Some Chinese citizens are seen taking pictures of the border area, and their vehicles are seen standing nearby.

Commander level talks were held on Sunday to resolve the ongoing border dispute between India and China, however as per media reports a village headman of Ladakh region has said that Chinese trains enter the Indian territory.

According to the news published in  The Hindu, the head of the border village, Urgain Tsewang, shared a video with the newspaper in which two Chinese vehicles were not allowed to go ahead by the security personnel and locals on 16 December 2020. According to the newspaper, in another video dated December 10, some Chinese citizens are seen taking pictures of the border area, and their vehicles are seen standing nearby.

Urgain Tsewang, who recorded these videos, tells that when the shepherds arrived to feed their animals in winter, the Chinese people asked them to vacate the area.

Urgain said “On December 10, some villagers went there and saw the Chinese had entered the Indian territory and had transgressed more than one kilometre from the border. We contacted the authorities who asked us to camp there and not recede even by an inch. We stood guard for four to five days. The two Chinese vehicles came back again on December 16, but this time the SDM and ITBP officials were there... We chased them away,”

He said the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army personnel were interspersed with civilians.

China has violated its proposal for deployment of troops on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) about four months ago. According to an India Today report, the Chinese army has strengthened its position in eastern Ladakh and has secretly increased its troops. China had proposed that the two countries no longer increase their troops.

The deadlock began in early May last year, when the Chinese came within 8 kilometers of the Indian border. Although China began to withdraw its troops in early June but did not meet it at several points along the border.

The deadlock escalated on June 15 last year when Indian and Chinese forces collided during patrols. Due to which the soldiers of both sides lost their lives. Since then, both sides have increased their military strength in the region.

In late August, Indian troops surprised China by occupying strategically important highlands on the southern side of Pangong Tso in Chushul. India redeployed its troops on the northern side of Pangong Tso.
