Ground Report | New Delhi: The cabinet of the Narendra Modi government at the Center is expanding and 43 leaders took oaths as ministers. Among them, there are seven leaders whose ministry has been reshuffled, while 36 leaders are taking oaths as ministers for the first time. This is the first cabinet expansion of the second term of the Modi government and it was being discussed for the last several days. Prime Minister Modi had also held several review meetings earlier.
The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has appointed the following as members of the Council of Ministers :-

Chirag Paswan:'s uncle Pashupati Paras, who broke Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), has also got a place in the cabinet. Apna Dal chief Anupriya Patel, an ally of BJP in Uttar Pradesh, has also been given a place in the cabinet.
Dozen ministers have resigned
More than half a dozen ministers have resigned before the cabinet expansion. This includes big faces like Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan.
Among the ministers who resigned today ahead of the cabinet expansion are Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar. Both of them are considered to be the confidants of Prime Minister Modi. There is speculation that he may be given a place in the organization.

According to the rules, there can be 81 ministers in the Union Cabinet. On the previous day, after Thaawarchand Gehlot was made the governor, the number of existing members of the cabinet was reduced to 52. In such a situation, posts were vacant for more than two dozen ministers.
Prior to this expansion, Prakash Javadekar, Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Nitin Gadkari, Harsh Vardhan, Narendra Singh Tomar, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Smriti Irani, and Hardeep Singh Puri are ministers who had more than one ministry.
