Former Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has now accused the government of allegedly harassing the candidates contesting the DCC after the election results of the District Development Council. 

In a tweet, Omar Abdullah cited the District Development Council elections saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has today said that democracy has won but the government has started harassing those contesting elections in Shopian. He is under house arrest for no reason.

Omar Abdullah alleged that his party's winning candidate in the District Development Council election has been forcibly detained by the government. Taking a dig at the central government, he said that pressure is being made on his party's winning candidates to be included in his party, which will not be tolerated at all.

Omar Abdullah said that after the election results of the District Development Council Two senior leaders were detained. One of her party's female candidates, Yasmeena Jaan, who won the election from Imamsahib in Shopian, is being pressurized by the government to join his party. He has full evidence of this fact.

He said he will present all this evidence if needed in future. At the behest of the government, the police and administration have detained the leaders of his party. All this is happening under a well-planned conspiracy. Government's nefarious plans ever succeed.

The NC leader alleged that the BJP and its party were misusing government machinery to influence, buy or pressurize candidates for DDC elections. Omar Abdullah said that candidates are being forcibly included in the BJP or its own party. He said that a NC candidate was forced to join his party.

Omar Abdullah said that a relative of the NC candidate was arrested and told that he would have to join his party if he wanted his relative's release. Omar Abdullah alleged that the officials were trying to interfere with the process of DDC councils and influence candidates. He said, 'Democracy is being maligned. Institutions are being asked to do so. '
