Bilaspur falls under the Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh. It is an Assembly constituency in which Bharatiya Janata Party won the 2017.

Bilaspur falls under the Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh. It is an Assembly constituency in which Bharatiya Janata Party won the 2017 elections. In the 2017 elections, Baldev Singh Shukla won the seat by defeating Indian National Congress’ Sanjay Kapoor by 22359 votes. The elections will be held on February 14, 2022.

Baldev Singh Aulakh, BJP 

Baldev Singh Aulakh is MLA of Bilaspur, UP. He contested in 2017 elections as well and sweeped the seats.He is associated with Bharatiya Janata Party. Currently, he is the Jal Shakti State Minister

Amarjeet Singh, SP

Amarjeet Singh is a representative of Samajwadi Party. He is 64 Years old. 

Ramautar Kashyap, BSP

Ramautar Kashyap is a representative of Bahujan Samaj Party. He is 56 years old. 

Sanjay Kapoor, INC

A politician of Indian Congress and a member of 16th Uttar Pradesh’s Legislative Assembly. He has represented the Bilaspur constituency earlier as well for two terms and is a returning candidate for the post. He is also National Secretary to the Indian National Congress.   

Demography

In Bilaspur, the Muslim population is around 35% followed by more than 12% of Sikh population. A good number of Kurmi voters are also there. Moreover, 15.76% of the population belongs to Scheduled Castes.

It will be interesting to watch amid the ongoing controversies and door-to-door campaigning of the contesting candidates. Sanjay Kapoor from Indian National Congress and Baldev Singh Aulakh from BJP are the returning candidates. One one hand where Mr. Kapoor has served twice in a row at Bilaspur while on the other hand, Mr. Aulakh is the current minister of the State.
