Big role of police in border management: NSA Ajit Doval

Ground Report | New Delhi: NSA Ajit Doval on Police; National Security Advisor Ajit Doval from Uttarakhand inspects the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the 73rd Batch of Trainee Officers of the Indian Police Service in Hyderabad. He inspected the passing out parade at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad. Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia of Punjab cadre was born in Punjab and is the sixth woman in the history of the Academy to command the parade. She was overall paramount in the first phase of training. In addition, he has been awarded the Shaheed KS Vyas Trophy for his outstanding performance in the field of internal security and public order and field strategies.

This time a total of 149 trainee officers have left the academy after successful training. Of these, 132 are IPS and 17 are foreign officers. Of the foreign officials, six each are from Bhutan and Maldives Police and five from Nepal Police. Of the total 149 trainee officers, 31 are women.

He wanted the young officers to know that service to the people is the greatest service, not only from the point of view of nation building but also from the point of view of national security. He asked the new batch of officers to not only think of reforms to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, but also be transformative by looking at the challenges of the future and finding solutions in advance.

“The quintessence of democracy is not in the ballot box. It is enshrined in the laws that are made by the people elected through these ballot boxes. You are the enforcer of the law… Laws are only as good as they are executed and implemented and the service that people can derive from it," he said, adding that the success of democracy is in enforcement. Law. People cannot feel safe and secure where law enforcers are weak, corrupt and partisan, he said. “No nation can be built where the rule of law has failed.”

He reminded them that their responsibility includes not only the protection of 130 crore human beings and 32 lakh square kilometers of land area across the country. He wanted them to be trained and prepared for the challenges of border management as well as highly specialized investigations in agencies like the NIA or CBI. (NSA Ajit Doval on Police)

He further added, "And you are there to see that they are completely safe. Therefore, serving the people is the biggest service not only from the point of view of nation-building, but also from the point of view of the nation. National security. And police will have to work in tandem with other organizations, for which they require a mental attitude that we will work together and serve this country."

He said that technology is another frontier in which he has to excel and he is sure that with some of the most elite organizations of the country having state-of-the-art technologies to serve the nation, the police officers will be able to upgrade their technical capabilities. These are all important elements in nation building, said Doval, emphasizing on the importance of technology.

Calling upon the officers to think about the future and find their solutions today, Doval said, "Wherever you go, you will find a lot of talk about reforms. Reformers are learning from the past and not making the same mistakes." I want the younger generations not only to think about reforms. You have to be transformational and bring in the force and change in your capabilities keeping in mind the challenges ahead."
