Telugu people celebrates 'Sankranthi' it is their biggest festival. Festivities lasts for 4 days. Bhogi is the day before grand festival Sankranthi.

Especially in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, this celebration is being held in grand style.

Adults derive bhogi from the word 'bhaga'. Bhogi is considered as last day of Dakshinayana. That is why the hardships and sufferings of Dakshinayanam are offered to the god of fire in the form of bonfires.

On the day of Bhogi Pandigai, people get up before dawn and light a bonfire also known as Bhogi Mantalu among locals, with wood and other solid fuels.

People eat homemade cookies on this day. Bhogi Day is also a festival of dolls and paraphernalia. On that day the plums turn into costa bonfires.

Some of the villages are far away from this bonfire festival where everyone gathers together. Many villages in the Vijayanagar District of the state do not celebrate this festival.

Some of today's children do not even know about the Bhogi festival. It is noteworthy that today is away from the bonfire festival because something happened decades ago.
