BCCI may offer Anil Kumble to become head coach

Ground Report | New Delhi: Anil Kumble head coach; After the T20 World Cup, the tenure of the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri is coming to an end, after which the BCCI is looking for a new head coach. According to media reports, BCCI can contact Anil Kumble and VVS Laxman for the head coach.

A senior BCCI source, on the condition of anonymity, told news agency PTI that "The episode of Anil Kumble's exit needs to be rectified. The way the CoA removed Kohli under pressure was not right. However, it also depends on whether Kumble and Laxman will agree to apply for the coach's position".

Anil Kumble has a lot of coaching experience, he has also been working with the Indian Premier League teams for a long time. At present, he is appointed as the head coach of the IPL team Punjab Kings. Earlier he has also worked with team RCB and Mumbai Indians. At the same time, VVS is currently working as a mentor of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup is going to start in October. The final of this tournament will be played on 15 November. For Virat Kohli, this tournament is going to be the last ICC tournament as T20 captain.

As reported by The Indian Express, the BCCI has also approached former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene for the role of head coach.

However, Jayawardene declined the offer and is said to be interested in coaching the Sri Lankan team and IPL franchise. As per the rule, an Indian coach cannot take on any other cricket assignment and hold two positions.

The appointment of the head coach will also depend on Rohit Sharma, who is the front-runner to replace Virat Kohli as the T20 captain, as the latter has announced his decision to step down after the T20 World Cup.
