Nominations for Annual football award Ballon d'Or has been announced. 30 Man Shortlisted for this prestigious football award. The Ballon d'Or 2021 awards will be held at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris on 29 November. We will see some of the top footballers battle it out to lay their hands on the prestigious award.

What is Ballon d'Or award?

  • Ballon d'Or stands for Golden Ball. This is an annual football award. France football Magazine present this award every year. This is one of the oldest and most prestigious individual award for football players.
  • This award came into existence in the year 1956. Stanley Matthews of Blackpool was the first footballer to win this award.
  • Earlier it was only awarded to Europian players but in year 2007 it was extended to all the continents.
  • Lionel Messi won this award six times and Cristiano Ronaldo has won this 5 times.
