Ground Report | New Delhi: Arunachal abduction case; On January 27, Chinese soldiers handed over 17-year-old Miram Taran from Arunachal Pradesh to the Indian Army. Miram has now reached out to his family, but his family has alleged that he was tortured while imprisoned in China.

Miram's father has told Indian Express, "My son has been killed by Chinese soldiers. He has also been given an electric shock. Miram Tarom hails from Jido village in the Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh and suddenly went missing on January 18. That day, Miram went hunting with his friend Johnny Yeying in the area bordering China.

His family members and BJP MP from Arunachal Pradesh Tapir Gao had said that Miram was kidnapped by Chinese soldiers. The family members of Meeram had lodged a complaint with the local police station regarding their son. There were high-level diplomatic talks between the two countries regarding the release of Miram and then the release took place.

Miram's father Opang told the newspaper: "The Chinese army took him to the PLA camp and interrogated him in Tibetan. My son did not understand Tibetan. My son tried to speak in Hindi and in Hindi. Chinese soldiers do not understand Hindi. and kept asking questions. In Tibetan itself. After that, he started hitting and also gave electric shocks.

Overjoyed to finally have his son back home, Miram's father Opang said that he was saddened by the treatment meted out to his son by Chinese soldiers. He said, 'My son was trying to run away from the spot and scratched some soldiers trying to nab him. One of those soldiers kicked my son several times.

"If not only that, Chinese soldiers took him to the PLA camp and interrogated him in Tibetan, which he failed to understand. My son tried to communicate in Hindi and Adi, which is our mother tongue. The Chinese could not understand what he was saying and continued to question him in Tibetan. Since he failed to understand them, he became upset. Later, they gave him electric shocks."

The 49-year-old farmer said that his son is still in great pain. “We have contacted the army officials. He has assured us of cooperation in his treatment. At present, we are monitoring his condition.

Opang said his son has told him that he was given enough food when he was held captive. However, most of the time he was blindfolded. Opang said the torture stopped after her abduction made headlines.
