Ground Report | New Delhi: Arun Valmiki post mortem; The post-mortem report has arrived in the case of the death in police custody of sanitation worker Arun Valmiki in Uttar Pradesh. According to the report, he died of a heart attack, as per the post-mortem report.

Agra SSP Muniraj said, "The postmortem of the death in police custody was done in the police station Jagdishpur. According to the PM report, the cause of death has been given as a heart attack. The matter is being thoroughly investigated."

Arun Valmiki was a sanitation worker in Jagdishpur police station. He has accused of theft of Rs 25 lakh from the Malkhana of the police station. When the police reached Arun with him at his house for recovery and interrogation, his health deteriorated there and he died before reaching the hospital.

Arun's wife Sonam alleges, crying, "The policemen killed him. Salt and pepper were all over his body. They kept hitting him with thick sticks. They killed him." Arun's mother, Vimala Devi, says weeping, "I will recognize the policeman who killed my Lal."

No one has been named in the case, but according to police officials, five policemen, including an inspector, have been suspended. The names of these policemen are: Anand Shahi (Inspector), Yogendra (Sub Inspector), Satyam (Soldier), Rupesh (Soldier) and Mahendra (Soldier).

Priyanka Gandhi reached Agra

Late-night Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi reached Agra and met Arun Valmiki's family members. Before going from Lucknow to Agra, the police stopped Priyanka Gandhi citing the imposition of Section 144, after which three people were allowed to go to Agra to meet the family members.

After meeting the family, Priyanka said, "His wife told me that her husband was brutally beaten up. He has huge wounds on his body. He has even been given an electric shock. The things I told him Don't even want to repeat it because I can't imagine that this could happen to anyone."

Earlier, Ms Vadra tweeted on Wednesday, "Where is the justice for lynching someone in police custody?" She further said, "The incident of Arun Valmiki's death in Agra police custody is condemnable.

On the day of Lord Valmiki Jayanti, the UP government has taken action against his messages." He also demanded, "a high-level inquiry and action against the policemen and the victim's family should get compensation".
