Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief of Arrested Republic TV, was on Sunday shifted from a covid-19 Quarantine Center in Alibaug to Taloja Jail in Raigad district of Maharashtra in connection with abetting an interior designer to commit suicide.

Arnab was brought to this quarantine center after being sent to judicial custody.

News agency PTI quoted a police officer as saying that Arnab was allegedly using the phone in judicial custody, after which he was sent to Taloja jail.

Raigad's crime branch found that Arnab Goswami is active on social media from someone else's mobile phone, while his own mobile phone was seized by the police after he was detained on 4 November.

When Arnab was being taken to Taloja jail, he shouted to the police van that Alibag jailer attacked him on Saturday evening, his life was in danger and he was not allowed to talk to his lawyer.

Meanwhile, former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya said in a tweet that on Sunday he met the jailer of Taloja Jail and the jailer assured that Goswami would not be harassed and would be provided the necessary treatment.

Arnab and two others, Feroz Sheikh and Nitish Sarada, were arrested by the Alibag police on November 4, 2018, in connection with the suicide of interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother.

It is alleged that the companies of the accused allegedly did not pay the money to Anvay, due to which Anvay committed suicide.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the Bombay High Court will pronounce its decision on the interim bail petition of Arnab and two others.

According to a notice issued on the High Court website late on Saturday, the bench will sit to hear the verdict on November 9 at 3 pm.
