Antilia case: Sachin Vaze wrote, Now is the time to go

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Mumbai Police officer Sachin Vaze on Saturday evening after questioning him for 12 hours.

A case has been registered against Vaje under sections 285, 465, 473, 506 (2), 120 B of IPC.

Before the NIA went to the office in South Mumbai, he circulated a message on social media, in which he claimed that his fellow police officers were trying to implicate him.

At the end of the message, he also wrote that "The time to say goodbye to the world is coming to a close".

The Uddhav Thackeray government had on Friday removed Sachin Waje from the Crime Intelligence Unit of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch.

The state government took this step when Waje's alleged role in the alleged murder of Thane resident Mansukh Hiren was coming to light.

Along with this, Vaze's alleged role in reaching the explosive-laden SUV recovered outside Mukesh Ambani's house is coming to the fore.

But before the NIA's interrogation began, Waje had put a message on his WhatsApp which said -

"March 3, 2004. Fellow CID officers arrested me in a false case. The reason for that arrest has not been clarified till date. I feel that history is repeating itself. My fellow officers again tell me in a false case Trying to trap. There is a slight difference this time. Then I probably had 17 years of hope, patience, life and service. Now I have 17 years of life, service and patience to live. I think The time to say goodbye to the world is coming to a close."

In this message, Vaze referred to a 2004 sentence in which he had to undergo a suspension for years due to a death in custody. He has been recalled to the job only last year.

The NIA had summoned two co-commissioners of the Mumbai Police, Nitin Alakanure and Sripath Kale. Alakanure was the investigating officer in the explosive-laden SUV case. Sripath Kale is the investigating officer in the alleged Hiren murder case. NIA can present Sachin Vaze in court on Sunday morning.
