Ground Report | Srinagar: Amid panic and rumours the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir will interact with public representatives and officials of Jammu and Kashmir administration through video conference today. The meeting was called in the backdrop of rumours circulating about 'some development' in the erstwhile state.

According to an order issued by the JK administration, the following officers and representatives will meet the CS, “DDC Chairman, Divisional Commissioner (Jammu/Kashmir, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone and Inspector General of Police) of all districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir Zone. "Besides above Public Representatives and Officers, the Principal Secretary, Home Department, is also requested to attend the said meeting from the Meeting Hall, 4th Floor, Civil Secretariat, Srinagar", it added.

The notice further reads, "It has further been desired that all Deputy Commissioners shall ensure that nameplates be prominently displayed in front of every participant during the meeting".

Earlier a large number of Security forces have been deployed in North Kashmir and parts of Jammu and Kashmir in the past. The deployment of such a large number of soldiers has worried some local leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir UT. In fact, after the special status of the state was abolished in the year 2019, this is the first time that such a large number of soldiers have been deployed here.

According to a report by NDTV, some political leaders who were detained after the end of the special status of the state said that they fear that they may be detained again.

Peoples Conference chairman, Sajjad Lone, wrote on Twitter “We want to believe even in rumours rumoured to be rumours. We love rumours, don’t we? The last few days has been all about rumours and conspiracies. They say don’t believe a rumour to b true until govt actually denies it (sic).”

However IGP Vijay Kumar says that these soldiers are returning from the states where elections were held recently, not for any purpose. He said that he is being included again after the elections are over, this is not a new deployment.
