Ground Report | New Delhi: Amarinder Singh may resign; Ahead of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting in Punjab on Saturday evening, the party high command has asked Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to resign to facilitate the election of a new leader, Indian Express reported.

According to information received from sources, Amarinder has announced this in a meeting with his supporting MLAs. On the orders of the Congress high command, a meeting of the legislature party has been called at 5 pm today. In this meeting, the MLAs can choose their new leader.

Earlier sources said that Captain Amarinder Singh had a phone conversation with Congress high command Sonia Gandhi today. During this, he said that he cannot stay in the party with such humiliation. After the talks between the two leaders, speculations about the resignation of the captain have gained further air.

In Punjab Congress, activities have intensified due to the ongoing tussle between Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and State Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, in view of which former Congress President Rahul Gandhi himself in Delhi has taken the lead to deal with the situation. To deal with any major crisis, Rahul Gandhi is holding a meeting with senior leaders in the Congress War Room on Rakabganj Road regarding the ongoing turmoil in the Punjab Congress.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has decided to resign from his post ahead of the Congress Legislature Party meeting on Saturday. Sources close to the Chief Minister have given this information. Sources said Amarinder Singh will meet the governor at around 4.30 pm and submit his resignation.  (Amarinder Singh may resign Congress-party)

Earlier, Amarinder Singh spoke to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and expressed displeasure and unhappiness over the repeated "insults". Sources say that the Chief Minister took a decision about resigning in a meeting with his supporting MLAs.
