Ground Report | New Delhi: The National Security Advisors of India and Pakistan will participate in the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) meeting to be held in Tajikistan next week. Officials of India and Pakistan have confirmed this. National Security Advisor of India Ajit Doval and National Security Advisor of Pakistan Moeed Yusuf will participate in the conference.

National Security Advisor of Pakistan Moeed Yusuf has said that there is no possibility of a direct meeting between the NSA of India and Pakistan. According to officials of both the countries, there will be no direct talks between the security advisers of India and Pakistan during this conference.

In recent months, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi have also visited the same place on several occasions but the two have not met directly. However, this conference is taking place at a time when both India and Pakistan have taken decisions to reduce tension.

According to reports, talks have also taken place behind the scenes between the two countries in which Ajit Doval from India's side and military officials from Pakistan's side have participated. It started with a ceasefire agreement on the Line of Control.

Even though there are reports of back-channel talks between the two countries, the government of Pakistan has been publicly saying that the talks between the two countries will continue till India withdraws its decision on 5 August 2019 on Jammu and Kashmir. Will not.

Top officials will first meet on June 22 in the SCO meeting to be held in Tajikistan. After that, there will be a meeting of National Security Advisors on 23 June. In this meeting, the joint military exercise to be held in Pakistan this year will also be discussed. Indian soldiers will also participate in this.

Soldiers of SCO member countries conduct annual 'Regional Anti Terror Structure' military exercises. However, in September 2020, when India and Pakistan came face to face in the NSA SCO meeting, then Indian NSA Ajit Doval walked out of the meeting. Yusuf, the special assistant on security matters to Pakistani Prime Minister Imran, showed a disputed map in the background showing Junagadh and Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan.

Apart from China, Russia, India, and Pakistan, there are many countries of Central Asia in the SCO. This time the presence of top security officials of India and China will also be monitored in the meeting. Afghanistan and Iran are observer members of this organization and they will not attend the meeting this time.
