New Delhi, which often holds the title of the world's most polluted capital, also had the largest per capita economic loss in the country from air pollution in 2019, followed by neighboring Haryana states.

The environmental crisis in New Delhi tends to worsen each year with the arrival of the coldest months between October and February when the air begins to become more toxic.
