Ground Report | New Delhi: Aaj Tak sacks journalist; Aaj Tak TV journalist Shyam Meera Singh was on Monday sacked by the India Today Group for his tweet calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi "shameless".
Shyam Meera Singh took to Twitter to inform about his termination, "I have been terminated from my channel Aaj Tak (India Today Group) for writing these two tweets on PM Modi." He shared screenshots of two tweets attached to his termination email by India Today Group as the reason behind his termination.

In one of his tweets on PM Modi, it was written, 'Who says respect the Prime Minister. He should first ask Modi to respect the post of Prime Minister. (sic)"
His second tweet in Hindi read, "When I write something here on Twitter, some people start tagging my employer. They say, 'Sack him. Why don't you sack him?' But I post the next tweet with even more vigor. I will not shy away from writing about it. Modi is a shameless PM."
He also shared the termination email received from HR of India Today Group.
Netizens took note of the development and slammed India Today Group and Aaj Tak for their move. India Today was one of the top-trending topics on Twitter on Monday morning. (Aaj Tak sacks journalist)

Shyam Meera Singh has been vocal against the PM Modi-led BJP government over the failure of various policies and programmes, especially its inability to tackle the COVID pandemic.
Singh also shared a screenshot of the termination letter received from the HR department of the India Today Group. Both his tweets were attached to the said termination letter.
Singh's sacking became a topic of intense discussion on social media and many people slammed the India Today Group for showing double standards in taking action against its employees on social media posts. Some reminisced how the media group turned a blind eye to employees who used their social media handles to praise the BJP government.
