Ground Report | New Delhi: Bihar Teachers Jobs; Bihar has seen a major downfall in teacher appointments as a high court-ordered probe into 20,000 teachers forged appointments in 2014. A major drawback from Bihar made headlines when 90,000 teachers' appointment folders went missing. This come after the lack of vigilance was seen from the state vigilance committee.

In 2014, The Indian Express published their ‘Cheat & Teach’ under which they disclosed that almost 20k teachers forged their degrees and still were appointed by the government between 2006 and 2011. Later, the government themselves came forward to accept there were not 30k but 25,000 teachers who forged their degrees.

The 90k Matter:

The 90k lost appointment folders come in the light, the entire supervision in such matter was done by the Niyojan or the placement unit as they were responsible for taking care of all teacher documents, certificates, and appointment folder as per the State Education minister Vinay Kumar Chaudhary, he also emphasized when asked by the Indian Express if the teachers will lose their jobs? That the matter will be taken care of as per the high court’s order, but it is a fact that 90k teachers' appointment files are missing.

In 2021, FIR was lodged against 1673 teachers for forging degrees by the state education department told in an affidavit to the high court. They also mentioned that they’re focusing on recovering salaries from the forge-appointed teachers.

1 Lakh Elementary Teachers Matter in Bihar:

There’s another matter which came to the light after the 90,000 missing appointment folders matter as 1 Lakh Elementary teachers may lose their jobs for not being able to submit the required certificates. Department of Education asked the state vigilance to look into the matter and then the state vigilance asked for all 3.75 lakh teachers' verification documents and certifications. The state vigilance received 2.5 lakh teachers' documents but approximately 1.3 lakh teachers' documents weren’t available after repeated reminders by the committee. These teachers were appointed in between the period of 2006 to 2015 and as per the high court direction, these teachers will be terminated for not abiding by the rules. Among 10% to 15% who did submit their documents have submitted forged certificates as per the report of TOI.

Conclusion:

Bihar is already known for its cheating scandals by the students but the teacher's cheating scandal had played negatively with the reputation of the state’s education department. This matter will be looked into by the high court and by the education department as well.
