On the sidelines of an event to facilitate NEET-cleared Kashmir Super 30, Pandey said, “There has been no ceasefire violation this year. No one has happened. At least in the Kashmir Valley it is zero. Let me tell you that we are ready for ceasefire violation. If anything happens, we are ready to give a befitting reply, but clearly, there has been no cross-border provocation."

Talking about infiltration into the Union Territory, he said, "There have been some attempts, but hardly any successful attempts. To my knowledge, only two attempts were made, in one of which the terrorist was neutralized in Bandipora. We are looking for another who has been successful."

"An operation is going on in Uri for the last 24 hours where we thought an infiltration attempt was made," he said. "However, I can assure you that we are very cautious and we assure that there is minimum infiltration," he said.

Pandey further said that 60 to 70 Pakistani militants are currently active in the Valley. He said that Pakistani militants have changed their strategy and they are not fighting from the front. Instead they use local youths to carry out attacks, Pandey said.  “Their strategy is that they will not attack from the front but use local youth and attack them and kill them in an encounter. This benefits them because when a local youth dies, the family gets angry with us. This is their strategy,” he said. He appealed to the families to ensure that their sons do not go down the wrong path.
