India is currently leading 2-1 in this series, but in the event of the fifth match being cancelled, this match will be added to England's account or this cancelled match will be held again in the future. This match is now expected to take place on the next England tour.

Next year India will tour England to play a limited-overs series. With the cancellation of this match, India just lost the chance to win the Test series on England's soil after 14 years. Although the team still has a chance, they will have to wait till next year for that.
