Ground Report | New Delhi: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) said on Tuesday that at least 594 doctors have died in the second wave of coronavirus infections in the country so far, with 107 deaths in Delhi alone. The country's capital Delhi has the maximum number of deaths of 107 doctors. 

After this, 96 doctors in Bihar and 67 in Uttar Pradesh have lost their lives due to Covid-19. However, At the time of the first wave of corona, 748 doctors in the country were infected with corona and died.

According to IMA data, 43 doctors have died in Rajasthan after Delhi, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, 39 doctors have died in Jharkhand, 32-32 in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, 31 in Gujarat and 25 in West Bengal from Corona.

However, due to IMA being a voluntary organization of doctors in India, it is believed that this figure could be even higher. This is because the association maintains records of only 3.5 lakh members out of 12 lakh doctors.

According to the information, the IMA recently raised its voice against the violent incidents on doctors, health workers and health care establishments and asked Union Home Minister Amit Shah to consider his appeal on emergency basis for the safety of the health professionals of the country and health care violence. Have urged to implement an effective and strong law against.

IMA President JA Jayalal said, "Last year 748 doctors across India died due to COVID-19, while in the current wave we have lost 594 doctors."
