Four militants have been killed in an encounter between security forces and extremists in Nagrota of Jammu and Kashmir, while a security personnel was also injured.

Jammu and Kashmir Police has given this information by tweeting.

According to the police, police, CRPF and Indian Army were involved in this encounter near the toll plaza on Thursday morning.

Talking to a news channel, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said, "Whenever there is an atmosphere of critical peace, then Pakistani agencies will use the Jaish-e-Mohammad or Lashkar-e-Taiba Sends terrorists. They are people of Pakistani origin. This time the terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed were sent but it is a matter of happiness that another attempt of Pakistan has failed.

These extremists were riding in a truck and were going towards the Kashmir Valley.

But this truck was caught in Nagrota, Jammu, after this incident, security has been increased in the areas around the toll plaza.

The officials said that the gunbattle started near the toll plaza in the Ban area of Nagrota when some militants opened fire at police and paramilitary forces. The militants, they said, were hiding in a vehicle. The Army also joined the operation, they said. In the initial phase of the gunfight, they said, two SOG personnel were injured who were later hospitalized. 

The injured have been identified as Kuldeep Raj (32) of Akhnoor and Mohammad Ishaq Malik (40) of Neel Qasim Banihal Ramban. Both have been admitted to GMC Jammu with injuries on neck and their condition is said to be stable. 

Vijay Kumar, IG, Jammu and Kashmir police said that the police was fully informed that the terrorists were coming to Kashmir from Pak, the attack was being planned in the district panchayat elections. The Central Reserve Police Force said a total of 11 AK-47 rifles were recovered from the terrorists.
