370 was not discussed; The all-party meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with 14 leaders

Ground Report | New Delhi: 370 was not discussed; The all-party meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with 14 leaders of Jammu and Kashmir has ended in New Delhi on Thursday. The meeting lasted for about three and a half hours.

Along with various political parties of the country, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Gupkar alliance of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, and Ghulam Nabi Azad also attended this meeting.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Baig said, "In the meeting, the government talked about economic development. Most of the delimitation was talked about. People complained about Article 370 but this matter is in court, so no discussion on it Gone."

After leaving the meeting, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that we made 5 demands in the meeting - give statehood soon, conduct assembly elections to restore democracy, resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu and Kashmir, release all political prisoners Go and domicile rules. He further said that the Home Minister said that the government is committed to giving statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. All the leaders demanded full statehood.

  • Statehood for Jammu and Kashmir should be restored at the earliest. "The prime minister and the home minister had promised in Parliament to restore J&K's statehood at the appropriate time. We told the government that now is the favourable situation for it," Azad said.
  • Congress also demanded the government to hold assembly elections in J&K at the earliest.
  • Ghulam Nabi Azad said the Congress party also demanded that efforts must be made to ensure the return of Kashmiri Pandits and their rehabilitation. "This is our moral responsibility," Azad said.
  • The fourth demand that Congress raised was that the government should release all social and political prisoners who were arrested/detained on or around August 5, 2019, when Article 370 was abrogated.
  • Besides this, Congress demanded the government to provide guaranteed protection of domiciles on land rights and jobs in J&K.

At the same time, Sajjad Lone, leader of the People's Conference said that the meeting was held in a very cordial manner. We came out very positive from the meeting. We hope that something better will happen for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, sources said that the government is in favor of holding elections after the delimitation process.
