Ground Report | New Delhi: 23 BJP workers killed; At least 23 BJP workers were killed in various terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in the last two years, figures emerged on Tuesday. 23 BJP workers, including some leaders, were killed in separate attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in the last two years.

Official sources said seven BJP workers were killed in the Kulgam district alone in the last year. Significantly, in the last ten days, four people, including a minor son of a BJP leader, were killed in three separate attacks on BJP workers/leaders. The latest killing took place on August 17, when Javed Ahmed Dar, son of BJP's constituency in charge Mohammad Abdullah Dar, was shot dead by terrorists in Kulgam.

23 BJP workers killed

On August 12, a two-year-old child was killed and six others were injured when a grenade was hurled towards the house of BJP Mandal President Jasbir Singh in Rajouri town.

On 9 August, terrorists killed BJP Kishan Morcha district president Kulgam Gha Rasool and his wife Jawahar Bano, a Panch and Redwani affiliated to the BJP from Kulgam, at Lal Chowk Anantnag. BJP leader and president MC Tral Rakesh Pandita was killed by militants in Tral on 02 June. Officials said nine BJP leaders, workers were killed in four months across Kashmir.

On October 30 last year, three BJP workers, Fida Hussain, who was the general secretary of BJP's Yuva Morcha, BJP worker Umar Ramzan, both residents of YK Pora, Qazigund and Umar Rashid, residents of Sopat in Devsar area of ​​Kulgam. On 23 September last year, Khag i.e. Budgam's Bupinder Singh, president of the Block Development Council (BDC) affiliated to the BJP party of Budgam, was killed by terrorists in his native village Dalwach, Budgam.

On August 9 last year, BJP's OBC district president Abdul Hamid Nazar was murdered when he was on a morning walk in Ompora, Budgam. On 6 August, BJP Sarpanch Sajjad Ahmed Khande was shot dead by terrorists near his residence in Vesu, Qazigund.

In 2020

In October 2020, Three BJP workers Fida Hussain Yatu, Omar Rashid, and Omar Ramzan Hajam were killed in an militants attack. Their car was attacked in Kulgam’s YK Pura area in the evening, in which all three died.

In August 2020, BJP worker Abdul Hamid Nazar was abused by unknown people in Budgam. Abdul Hamid was admitted to the hospital in an injured condition but he later died. A few days before his death.

In August 2020, A sarpanch and BJP worker named Sajjad Ahmed Khanday was shot dead outside his residence in Vessu area of Qazigund in southern Kashmir.

On August, 2020, Arif Ahmed, a member of the Bharatiya Janata BJP’s panchayat, was also killed by terrorists in Akhran, South Kashmir.

In July 2020, Former BJP district president Sheikh Wasim Bari, his father, and his brother were shot dead by suspected militants in Kashmir’s Bandipora district on 22 July 2020. The attack took place late in the evening when all three were in their shop near their house.

Police said Militants opened fire on BJP worker Waseem Ahmed Bari. Bari, 38, his father Bashir Ahmed, 60, and his brother Umar Bashir, 30, were injured in the incident. Later all three died.

In May 2019, Gul Mohammad Mir alias Atal Ji was assassinated in Nowgam of Anantnag district of South Kashmir. In the late evening of May 4, at around 10.00 pm, gunmen opened fire on him in Verinag. Gul Mohammad, 60, was the BJP district president of Anantnag. He also contested elections from Dooru assembly constituency in the years 2008 and 2014.
