The Odisha government provided an update on the tragic train accident near Bahanaga station, revealing that approximately 170 bodies have been identified so far.
Chief Secretary PK Jena has ensured that all necessary procedures are being followed and the bodies are being handed over for transport to their respective destinations. The government has taken responsibility for organizing free transport via hearses and vehicles for transporting dead bodies.
In a recent development, Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena has revised the final death toll from the Coromandel train crash to 275, correcting the previous tally of 288. This clarification is intended to provide accurate information about the unfortunate incident.
To help families in the identification process, the government has issued a helpline number (18003450061) for relatives of the deceased. This helpline is specifically dedicated to providing support and information to those who approach to identify their loved ones.
BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange reported that the bodies of the victims are currently in different hospitals in Bhubaneswar. To facilitate communication and provide assistance, a helpline number (1929) has been established. People can use this helpline by making phone calls at any time or by visiting the BMC-ICOMC tower in the Satya Nagar area of Bhubaneswar.
The government has also issued a helpline number: 18003450061 for the relatives of the dead bodies, who come for identification.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed concern over the reported death toll, stating that 61 people from her state have been confirmed dead and 182 people are still missing. These comments highlight the need for accurate information and continued efforts to locate those who are still missing after the tragic train accident.
