12 people killed in West Bengal violence, allegations against BJP-TMC

As soon as the results of the assembly elections in West Bengal were exposed, news of large-scale violence has started coming out from various parts of the state.

BJP alleges that TMC supporters have started attacking party workers everywhere after the unexpected victory in the elections.

On the other hand, TMC has described it as the result of BJP's infighting. In a conversation with Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on the phone, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took stock of the situation arising out of the violence. 

He has expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence in the state. The Governor himself has given information about this in one of his tweets.

"The Prime Minister called me and expressed his deep anguish and concern over the dangerously worrying law and order situation in the state. I also express my concern because violence, break- Bursts, arson, loot and murders continue unabated. Steps should be taken to improve the situation in the state."

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Gaurav Bhatia has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding a CBI inquiry into the violence in West Bengal. 

After the election results in West Bengal, there have been many incidents of violence, in which at least 12 people have died.

Gaurav Bhatia has also demanded from the Supreme Court that he direct the government of West Bengal to tell the court what steps he has taken to stop the violence.

According to the police, at least 12 people died in clashes in different areas of the state since Sunday night.

The police have not told which party the deceased belonged to. But the BJP claims that at least six of its people have been killed at the hands of TMC workers in the violence.

TMC has also claimed the death of four of its people, while one person has been described as a supporter of the Indian Secular Front.

Apart from this, there have been reports of fire in party offices and sabotage in houses in many areas. Police have arrested 26 people from various areas of the state so far on charges of violence.
