Getting a party membership is not easy. It has a strict selection process and only one out of every eight applicants gets success. This process takes about one and a half years.

More than 4.5 crore members of the CCP have junior college degrees. About one crore 87 lakh members are retired citizens. If we look at the figures of 2019, 28 percent of the members were farmers, laborers, and fishermen.

The number of women in the CCP has increased in the last few years. In 2010, 22.5% of the party's members were women, which increased to 28 percent in 2019. In 2019, 42 percent of those who subscribed were women. (100 years of Chinese communist)

According to last year's figures, 18 percent of the members of the party did not have faith in the government. In 2020, corruption cases were registered against six lakh 19 thousand CCP members. There was a report in 2010, according to which 32 thousand people left the party that year.

Every five years there is a convention of the CCP in which the leadership is elected. Meanwhile, the members choose the Central Committee, which consists of about 370 members. Apart from this, people are also elected on ministerial and other senior posts.

The members of the Central Committee elect the Politburo, which consists of 25 members. These 25 people together elect a standing committee. At present, there are seven people in this committee, who are considered to be the center of power. There have been five to nine people in it.

At the top is the Secretary-General who becomes the President. In 2012, Shi Jin Ping took over from Hu Jin Tao. Later, by changing the constitution, the term of the presidency was abolished and now Xi Jinping can stay in this post as long as he wants.
