Here's the list of 10 'Swadesi' alternatives to replace Chinese apps

The Indian government recently banned 59 Chinese apps. The move was named as ‘Digital Strike’ against China. It was done to ensure the security of Indian users. As it was doubted that these apps shared data of Indian users with the Chinese govt.

But now, we have a whole set of Indian made apps. These can be used as an alternative to many Chinese as well as other apps. Also, use of these apps supports India’s Atmanirbhar Campaign.

Here is a list of 10 Indian apps which can be an alternative to the Chinese apps in your phone

Elyments

This app was recently launched by the Vice President, M. Venkaiah Naidu. It is a social networking app that can replace Facebook. While, data security has been the issue with many apps. The app is available in 8 regional languages. It has been created by Sumero Software Solutions. It includes the basic features of a social networking app like discover, feed, filters for taking photographs etc. Elyments makes sure that the users’ data is safe. Its privacy policy gives maximum safety to the people.

Roposo

With Tik-Tok getting banned, there was a demand for a similar app. And Roposo, just fits in the gap. Roposo is an Indian video creation app. It has been developed by three IIT Delhi alumni. The app is available in 10 languages. And assures to offer a great user experience. It provides users with theme based channels like HaHa TV, Beats, Look Good Feel Good, Bhakti etc. Till date Roposo has more than 65 million Indian users and has been downloaded for more than 50 million times.

Shareall

Shareall is a file sharing application and is a safe alternative to ‘Shareit’. It has been developed by an Indian start-up called Quantum4u Labs. With this app, android users can easily share files, music, video and apps. It ensures secure sharing and also cleans junk and duplicate files. At present, the app is available for android users only.

Kaagaz Scanner

Just as the name suggests, Kaagaz Scanner is a scanning app. It easily replaces CamScanner and can be used to scan and share documents. It has been developed by IIT graduates.  The app can scan multiple documents together. It provides three scanning modes, detects pages and edges out automatically. It further allows sharing the document on multiple social media platforms. Also, it does not insert a watermark.

Jio Browser

Jio Browser has been developed by Reliance JIO. It is an alternative to the UC Browser. The app gives various features to its users. These include, dark theme, incognito mode, offline pages and many other. It also has a QR code scanner and a desktop mode. The app supports 8 different languages and has a home screen for local news content.

Indian Selfie Camera

This is an image-editing application that can be used in place of BeautyPlus. The app has been developed by an Indian Company PeakeCorp Inc. It provides with features like beauty editor, live selfie, live filters, etc. You can click pictures and then modify them with filters and other editing techniques. It works with both the cameras and allows sharing on multiple social media platforms.

K7 Total Security

It is a multi-platform, antivirus and anti-malware software. It provides software firewalls and protection from phishing. Further is has many other features like Call Blocker, Privacy advisor etc. The app also gives other options to users like scheduled scanning and web filter. The app also won the AV Comparatives Award for best antivirus in 2010 and 2011.

Inshorts

Inshorts is an Indian app that summarizes news in just 60 words. The app has a variety of features to offer. This include personalized stories, trending topics, videos etc. Further it has a home screen widget for headlines. The app is already a hit amongst Indian users and is a good replacement to the Chinese app UC News.

Hike Messenger

Hike is an Indian messaging app created by Hike Pvt Ltd. It provides stickers and a big screen for the users to interact easily. As compared to the Chinese Weibo app, Hike has 'Hikeland'. Herein users can interact with friends and also meet new people. The app was launched in 2012 and has more than 100 million users.

App Lock-Made in India

This app has been developed by Quantum4u Lab. It can be used to lock any app on the phone with fingerprint, pattern or PIN. It has other interesting features as well. This includes anti-theft features, brief exit options and multi-theme options. The app is free to use. And is well suitable for the Indian users as it supports multiple languages.
