Who is Muslim Leader Tauqeer Raza Khan?

Tauqeer Raza Khan holds a special identity in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. He is an Indian politician and an Islamic cleric. He is the religious leader of the Barelvi sect of Sunni Muslims and is also the founder of Ittihad-e-Millat Council.

On Friday thousands of Muslims gathered in Bareilly, UP, on the call of Tauqeer Raza Khan to protest against the Dharam Sansad held in Haridwar. The agitation has been called to offer ‘mass sacrifice’ in protest against hate speeches given in Haridwar Dharm Sansad against Muslims.

Tauqeer is the grandson of Ahmed Raza Khan, the founder of the Barelvi movement. Raza Khan was made the Vice Chairman of the UP Handloom Department but resigned from the post after the Muzaffarnagar riots. In 2016, he went to Deoband, which is the home of his enemy Deobandi Sect. His attempt was to bring unity between the two factions. For this, he had to face criticism from the clerics of his own sect and later had to apologize.

On Friday, on the call of Tauqeer Raza, more than 20 thousand Muslims gathered in Bareilly to protest. Here in his speech, he requested not to provoke Muslims. And said that if need be, Muslims are ready to go to the border to protect this country.

What Tauqeer Raza said in his Speech?

• Hate speech in Haridwar is not the first case, since last several months such cases are coming to the fore where attempts are being made to spread hatred against Muslims. But the government is not doing anything.
• If your thirst is quenched by our blood then we are ready to make sacrifices. Now you decide who is wrong. Those who are ready to sacrifice for the country or those who insult women and call to kill 200 million people of their own country. Are these people patriots?
• War is in our blood, we are born like warriors. But we don’t want war with you because you are our brother. If you want war and want to see our bravery, then come with us and see our courage on the border of China.
• Every day you insult the Quran, insult the Prophet Mohammed. You run campaigns to humiliate our women. Aren’t you ashamed? We are sitting peacefully because we want peace. Tears of blood drip from our eyes. But now our patience is running out, don’t provoke us.
• I request the government to give arms to these 20,000 Muslim youths. We will bring Kailash Mansarovar free from China and gift it to our Hindu brothers. Call the Indian Army and give us training, we will defeat Pakistan.
