A 40-year-old man who allegedly raped a six-month-old girl in Delhi's Samaipur-Badli district was arrested, police said. As per the reports, his friend, who is also accused of raping the baby's teenage sister, is absconding.

Police have arrested the accused, identified as Kamal Malhotra, alias Chinu, a worker, after a brief shootout in the Samaypur Badli area. Meanwhile, police have launched a search for another defendant, identified as Raju, who allegedly raped his 14-year-old baby sister on Friday, according to the Hindustan Times.

According to police, Chinu is a resident of Jahangirpuri, while Raju owns a store near the victims' house. The incident happened on Friday when the mother of the victims returned home after work. Hearing crying near her house, she went out and found that the accused had forcibly harmed her daughters. Seeing the victim's mother, the suspect fled the scene.

She heard screams in the neighbourhood and found that Chinu and Raja had allegedly raped her daughters. When they saw the woman, they fled the scene, police said, citing a statement.

The girls were taken to the hospital for treatment. After that, the RIP was registered and an investigation was launched, police said.

On Saturday, Chinu was found in a park near Samaypur Badli metro station. Police asked him to surrender, but he refused. Instead, he pulled out a gun and fired. During the retaliatory shot, a bullet hit him in the leg, after which he was captured, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Brijendra Kumar Yadav.
